Protection Orders

A protection order, also known as a restraining order, is a legal document issued by a court that prohibits an individual from engaging in certain behaviors toward another person. These behaviors may include physical abuse, stalking, harassment, or other forms of violence.

The purpose of a protection order is to provide legal protection to the victim and prevent the abuser from contacting or approaching them. Violation of a protection order can result in criminal charges and penalties. Protection orders can be temporary or permanent and may also include provisions for child custody and support. These Orders are extremely important for those who might otherwise continue to be harassed, assaulted, threatened, or stalked.
